Once November arrives and the temperatures start cooling off everyone’s thoughts turn to the upcoming holidays. Holden Beach Turkey Trot for Thanksgiving 2014
 

Every year Holden Beach has an assortment of festive events taking place between now and the end of the year. Starting with the Holden Beach Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 27 at 8 a.m. this route is approximately 2 miles long. Join us for this low key fun run/ walk and wear a Thanksgiving costume. This event will not be timed so it’s no-pressure but there will be a costume contest so get your creative juices flowing. Preregister at the Holden Beach Town Hall. There is no registration fee, just bring one canned food item to donate to Brunswick Family Assistance.

We have many people that return to Holden Beach at this time of year specifically to run in a chosen Turkey Trot and then hold their family Thanksgiving dinner in their holiday vacation rental. Once December arrives, the Town of Holden Beach gets dressed up in its holiday finest when the annual tree lighting event takes place. There will be an assortment of holiday flotillas taking place up and down the Intracoastal Waterway throughout the month. And you won’t want to miss the Chili Cook Off that will be held the same night as the tree lighting at Holden Beach Pavilion.

The Saturday following Thanksgiving on November 29 will be worth a visit to nearby Ocean Isle Beach as they celebrate the upcoming Christmas season with Super Saturday. The day begins with the Ocean Isle Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. followed by the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Causeway at 5 p.m. and then a Christmas Boat Flotilla and ending the evening with a party at Sharky’s.
