The NC 4th of July Festival Beach Day will take place on July 1, 2013, at 4433 Long Beach Road SE, Oak Island. The free event includes sand sculpture building, and volleyball, skateboarding, bocce ball contests organized by the Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department. There will also be entertainment in the evening, a shag contest organized by The Brunswick Society of Shaggers, and anniversary fireworks to celebrate the merger of the towns of Long Beach and Yaupon Beach in 1999.

The NC 4th of July Festival will be taking place from July 2-4 at 4433 Long Beach Road in Southport. For more than 200 years, this small maritime community has celebrated our nation's Independence Day in a big way. The celebration has grown from colonial times when ships lay anchor in her harbor and shot their cannons to today's festival where 40,000 to 50,000 people come each year to bathe in the richness of spirit commemorating Old Glory. Arts/crafts, parade, fireworks, entertainment, naturalization ceremony, children's games, children's entertainment, firefighter's competition, flag retirement ceremony, veteran’s recognition ceremony, flag raising ceremony and more. The events are free and open to the public.

Holden Beach vacation home rentalsThe Ocean Isle Beach 4th of July Parade will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 4. Decorated floats, golf carts and bicycles will be judged and prizes awarded. Line up in Museum of Coastal Carolinas parking lot at 9:30 a.m.

Noted as Coastal Living’s 10 Spots to Celebrate the Fourth and recent recipient of Southeast Tourism Society’s award of Top 20 things to do in July, the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA will present the 17th Annual Battleship Blast Fireworks. The celebration will not disappoint and at 9:05 p.m. the Battleship fireworks spectacular will begin. You don’t want to miss it this year as the fireworks display will light up the skies of Wilmington. Best view of amazing pyro technics is from downtown Wilmington as the entire Battleship complex on Eagles Island will be closed at 6:00 p.m. and all vehicles will be required to leave by 6:30 p.m.
